Angul: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials in the state, Vigilance Department sleuths today arrested the head clerk of the office of Banarpala Block Education Officer (BEO) red-handed while accepting bribe from a teacher.
The accused has been identified as Ranjan Kumar Nayak.
As per the report, one Prashant Sahu, a teacher of Patrapada Primary School had lodged a complaint at the office of the DSP Vigilance, Angul against Nayak a few days ago. In the complaint Sahu had accused Nayak of demanding a bribe of Rs 3,000 to pass his pending bills.
Acting upon the complaint, a team of anti-corruption wing officials laid a trap today and caught Nayak while receiving the bribe money from the complainant at his office in the afternoon.
The accused has been forwarded to court.
