Bangomunda IIC vigilance raid: Rs 5,86,220 cash recovered till now, Further search underway

Balangir: In a recent development regarding vigilance raid on Inspector-in-charge of Bangomunda Police Station in Balangir, Rs 3.8 lakh cash have been recovered further from his official residence today.

Acting on reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by Binod Bihari Nayak, Bangomunda IIC as illegal gratification from different sources, he was intercepted by a team of the Vigilance near Bargarh Toll Gate, while he was plying from Bangomunda towards Kuchinda on Maruti Ciaz car bearing registration No.OD-15-K-6111.

During interception, a sum of Rs 2,06,220 was recovered from Nayak which he could not account for satisfactorily. The cash as well as other documents including the Maruti Ciaz car have been seized.

A case has been registered at the Sambalpur Vigilance police station against Nayak under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act of 2018.

Following the interception, the office room of Nayak at Bangomunda police station, government quarters at Bangomunda police station, residential house at Kuchinda in Sambalpur district and house at his native village Chirabanikudar under Reamal police limits in Deogarh district are being searched.

Further investigation into the case is still underway.
