Jharsuguda: The District Informatics Officer (DIO) of Balangir has allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Brajarajnagar at Jharsuguda district on Thursday.
The deceased DIO has been identified as C.V.K. Maruti Rao. He was working as DIO at Balangir District Unit of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in the Collectorate building.
Reportedly, he has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his house.
His family members found him hanging on Thursday night and immediately rushed him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, he was declared brought dead.
On getting the information, the local police arrived and initiated a probe into the matter. After the post mortem procedure, his body has been handed over to the police today.
A suicide case has been filed with the police. From the preliminary investigation, it is being suspected that he might have taken this step due to some mental pressure. The exact reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
