Athagarh: Rekha Mohanty, the Anganwadi worker placed in the Anganwadi centre of Ghantikhal panchayat in Athagarh block in Cuttack district was recently awarded the national level Exceptional Achievement award 2019.

Mohanty is working as an Anganwadi worker since 1981. Locals say she takes care of the kids at the centre like a mother. After getting the award she has become an inspiration for others.

Rekha said, “I love the kids of my centre. After coming to the centre they are my children. Even I owe them as for them only I could go to Delhi from Palli. (She means she could get the national level award thanks to the kids at the Anganwadi centre). After the Class is over I always make it a point to keep an eye whether they reached their home safely or not. Parents of kids are good and cooperative.”
