Artisan from Berhampur Creates The Smallest ‘Nandighosh’ Chariot

Berhampur: Artisan Satya Maharana in Berhampur has constructed a miniature of ‘Nandighosh’ (the chariot of Lord Jagannath) having a height of 2.5 inches and width of two inches. Maharana claimed that the miniature of the chariot is the smallest in the world.

The chariot has 16 wheels, four horses, two parrots, chariot top and a flag. The height of Lord Jagannath placed inside the chariot is only one centimeter and that of the ‘sarathi’ is 1.5 centimeters.

Maharana said that the miniature weighs eight grams and it took four days to construct the miniature. “The Guinness Book of Records has given its consent for giving it a special tag,” claimed Maharana.

“I decided to construct the miniature to popularise the car festival. I had earlier created miniature wooden chariots in 2016. Besides, I had also made 8.5 inches height and five inches wide ‘Nandighosh’ chariot in 2017,” added Maharana.
