6 killed in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Soro/Baripada: At least six persons including a woman were killed in separate road mishaps in Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts since last night.

In the first instance, at least three persons were killed after a speeding truck hit a stationary truck and a passenger bus which were standing on NH-16 near Dandakali under Khantapada police limits in Soro of Balasore late last night.

The crash took place after the driver of the moving truck lost control over the wheels to end up hitting a woman passenger of  the parked bus and later the stationary truck. While the driver and helper of the stationary truck died on the spot, the victim woman also succumbed subsequently.

A police team led by Khantapada IIC immediately rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy, after seizing the mangled vehicles.

In a similar incident this morning, at least three youths who were travelling by a bike to Parashibadi from Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj district were hit by a tractor near Beherasahi Chhak of Solagadia.

While two of the victims identified as Bhajahari Pathuria and Raju Simnakia succumbed on the spot, another Rajendra Biswal was taken to Udala Hospital. Biswal died under treatment.

Police have rushed to the spot and trying to trace the tractor driver who managed to escape from the spot after the accident.
