Sonepur: Four members of a family have sustained serious burn injuries after a woman tried to immolate herself following a domestic spat at Nuapada village under Tarabha block of Sonepur.
As per reports, the woman named Kaushalya took the extreme step after an unpleasant verbal spat with her husband Tiku Soren over the latter’s addiction to alcohol. Following this, Kaushalya had set herself ablaze after pouring kerosene over her body.
Kaushalya’s husband Tiku Soren, their 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son sustained grievous burn injuries while trying to save her from the flames.
Hearing their cries, neighbours rushed and rescued them. At present, all four persons are undergoing treatment at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. Their condition is said to be critical.
