4 killed, over 10 hurt in rice mill wall collapse in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident at least four persons were killed and over 10 others sustained critical injuries after wall of an abandoned rice mill collapsed at Alasua market on the outskirts of Odisha’s Dhenkanal town today.

The deceased have been identified as Rama Chandra Sahu, Sangram Behera, Abhimanyu Biswal, and Tina Behera. All are street vendors by profession.

The mishap took place this morning soon after the starting of the business hours. An weak portion of the rice mills’ wall suddenly caved in to crush the victims who were sitting near it. A number of vehicles were also trapped under the debris of the collapsed wall on the spot.

Getting intimated, ODRAF and Fire Services officials rushed to the spot and rescued a number of victims to send to Dhenkanal DHH.

Rescue operation is underway at the spot.
