259-Member Committee Formed To Commemorate 75 Years Of India’s Independence

Bhubaneswar: To commemorate India’s 75th Independence Day, the centre has formed a 259-member committee. Headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, six Odias including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik are part of the committee.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan, Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu, Cabinet Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan, Principal Secretary Doctor Pramod Kumar Mishra and sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo will represent Odisha in the committee.

The 75 years of India’s Independence falls on 15th August this year and celebrations are proposed to be launched 75 weeks prior to this date on 12th March this year. The committee will provide policy direction and guidelines for the formulation of programmes for the commemoration of the 75th Independence Day.

The programmes will be organised on a huge scale after five different places around India. The Centre has advised every state to recommend 2-3 places and will send the list to the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
