Nayagarh/Bhadrak: With no respite in sight from the growing violence against women in the State, at least two minor girls had been raped in separate incidents in Odisha since last night.
In the first instance, a youth abducted a minor girl in Fatehgarh area in Nayagarh district after giving her a ride on their motorcycle on pretext of giving candies last night. Later, they outraged the victim’s modesty at a secluded place.
While villagers found the girl in critical condition from the spot and admitted to a hospital, they also nabbed the accused and handed over to police after thrashing severely.
In a similar incident, a minor girl was dragged away by a perpetrator to a secluded place while returning home after watching ‘opera’ under Bhadrak rural police limits. The victim was later raped and brutally attacked by the accused.
Some locals rescued the victim in critical condition and admitted to Bhadrak DHH.
Police have detained the accused in the case and his quizzing is underway.
