Nuapada: In a Nor’wester casualty in the State, at least two members of a family were killed and another sustained critical injuries in Bhandarpuri village under Sadar block in Nuapada district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Ganeshi Tandi and her daughter Tulasi Tandi. The injured is Ganeshi’s husband Punitaram.
As per the report, the victim family members were asleep at home when the Nor’wester rain struck the village. A tree located near the house was uprooted under the impact of the gusty wind which was accompanying the rain and fell on the roof causing it to collapse.
The woman and her daughter died on the spot after coming under the rubble of the collapsed roof.
Punitaram, who sustained critical injury in the incident was later rescued by fire brigade officials and admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police have rushed the bodies for autopsy and registered a case in the mishap.
