2 criminals injured in police encounter in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Two criminals have sustained critical injuries in an encounter with police near Barpada village in Bhadrak district on Wednesday.

The two have been identified as Prahallad Das of Soro and Sushant Mallick of Nilagiri from Balasore district. The two suspects are believed to have been involved in a robbery case of Rs 29 lakh from an ATM in Bhadrak.

Based on a reliable information about the presence near Barpada village, the team of Bhadrak police conducted a raid and nabbed them.

According to reports, the encounter took place following a face-off with the criminals during a raid by Bhadrak Police. The two have sustained bullet injuries on their leg and have been admitted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The police have also arrested two other accused during the raid. The cops have seized several arms and ammunition including two pistols and cash from their possession.

All the four accused have been detained for further investigation into the case.

It is to be noted that earlier on November 27, the loot of Rs 29 lakh cash from ATM kiosk by these armed miscreants in Bhadrak has been caught on tapes of a CCTV camera installed in the vicinity of the crime spot. The miscreant pulled out a gun and threatened the cash loaders before taking away a box load of cash.

With the box he fled the spot immediately with few of his associates who were waiting on motorcycles near the Laxmi Narayan temple in Charampa area. The Bhadrak police had obtained the CCTV footage and launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
