World cup 2023: New Zealand win toss and elect to bowl first against England

New Zealand's captain, Tom Latham, won the toss and decided to bowl first against England in the opening match of world cup 2023.

Ahmedabad: In the exciting opening match of the ODI World Cup, New Zealand’s captain, Tom Latham, won the toss and decided to bowl first against England on Thursday.

It’s worth noting that Kane Williamson, captain of the New Zealand team, was absent due to an ongoing knee injury. Additionally, Lockie Ferguson couldn’t play due to a minor injury, and Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee were also left out of the lineup.

On the other side, England had to make do without Ben Stokes, who was nursing a hip injury. Moreover, Gus Atkinson, Reece Topley, and David Willey were not part of the starting XI.

New Zealand: Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (w/c), Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner, James Neesham and Trent Boult.

England:  Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (w/c), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, and Mark Wood.
