World Cup 2019: Australia vs Pakistan at County Ground

New Delhi: Defending champions Australia will meet Pakistan for Match 17 of 2019 World Cup at The Cooper Associates County Ground at Taunton on Wednesday. The match will start at 3 pm (IST).

Australia have met Pakistan a total of nine times in previous World Cups, where Pakistan lead by 5-4. This is also a very good chance for Pakistan to balance odds.

Australia kick-started their World Cup campaign by beating Afghanistan and West Indies. Their winning momentum was halted by a clinical Team India when they beat them by 36 runs. It was also the first time Australia have lost a World Cup game while chasing since 1999.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have had a topsy-turvy campaign so far. They were humbled against West Indies by seven wickets but bounced back to pull off an upset against hosts England, winning that match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham by 14 runs. Their next match against Sri Lanka at Bristol was abandoned without a ball bowled.

As far as team combination is concerned, Australia face a challenge in replacing injured all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Pakistan is expected to play an unchanged XI as the match against Sri Lanka.

Even though the chances of rain are less in the morning, light showers are expected in the afternoon that could result in interruptions. While rain has played a spoilsport for some matches in the tournament, here’s hoping the same doesn’t happen today.
