India has taken part in every championship since the first one in 1983 but legendary long jumper Anju Bobby George’s bronze in Paris 2003 has been the lone medal won by an Indian at this competition.
The star attraction at the World Athletics is Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. The eight-time Olympic champion will compete in the 100m and 4x100m relay and bid farewell to competitive sport after the event.
