PM Narendra Modi visited the Indian dressing room at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after World Cup final match.

Ahmedabad: In the aftermath of India’s heart-wrenching loss to Australia in the World Cup 2023 final, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian dressing room at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite the defeat, the presence of the Prime Minister proved to be a source of motivation for the team, said India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support from the nation, Jadeja shared a poignant moment on social media, capturing PM Modi’s visit to the dressing room.

“We had a great tournament, but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken, but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating,” tweeted Jadeja.

Prime Minister Modi’s arrival at the stadium during the match was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Notably, he also presented the World Cup trophy to Australian captain Pat Cummins after Australia successfully chased down India’s total of 240.

India’s innings, led by captain Rohit Sharma’s strong start, encountered challenges in maintaining momentum on a dry Ahmedabad pitch. Despite a dominant run throughout the tournament, the Indian team faced a formidable Australian side that executed its plans meticulously, ultimately clinching the title.

This loss marked the second time in the year that India fell short in an ICC final, having previously lost to Australia in the World Test Championship final. Despite the disappointment, India’s performance throughout the tournament, winning 10 consecutive matches, demonstrated their prowess and aggressive brand of cricket.
