PCB instructs Pakistan Cricket Team to train with Army for improved fitness

In recent news, the chairman of PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) Mohsin Naqvi made an announcement that the country’s cricket team will be training with the national Army. The 10-day training camp will take place from March 25 to April 8.

The second half of the camp will fall within the month of Ramzan.

Notably, the training camp will begin a week after the PSL (Pakistan Super League). Mohsin Naqvi remains hopeful that with this training camp, the players’ fitness will become “up to speed.”

Naqvi mentioned that he was disappointed with the Pakistani batters abilities to hit sixes. He also spoke about the need to pay more attention to their strength and fitness.

Naqvi spoke to a few of the players of the Pakistan Cricket Board at a hotel in Islamabad on Tuesday.

He said, “When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I don’t think a single one of you hit a six that went into the stands. Whenever a six like that was hit, I used to think a foreign player must have hit that. I have asked the board to make a plan that gets every player’s fitness up to speed. You will have to make a proper effort for that.”

Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, Pakistan have a bilateral series schedules.

He further said, “We have New Zealand coming up, then Ireland, England and the T20 World Cup. I wondered, ‘When will we train?’ but there was no time. However, we have found a window where we have organized a cam in Kalkul from March 25 to April 8. The Pakistan Army will be involved in your training, and hopefully, they will help you out.”

It is also important to mention that this is not the first time when Pakistan’s Cricket team will be getting involved with the military forces. Earlier under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq, the team had organized a training camp at the Kakul academy ahead of a series Test against England.
