The rising star of Indian cricket, Shubman Gill, marked his 24th birthday on Friday. Known for his exceptional batting skills, Gill has rapidly risen through the ranks since his international debut in 2019 and is now regarded as one of the world’s best.

Gill’s journey to stardom has been remarkable, and many see him as the heir to the current Indian batting legend, Virat Kohli. Earlier this year, he achieved a significant milestone by scoring a double hundred against New Zealand in an ODI, becoming the youngest player to do so at 23 years and 132 days.

This accomplishment surpassed that of his friend Ishan Kishan, who had achieved a double century against Bangladesh at the age of 24 and 154 days.

Not stopping there, Shubham Gill also secured his place in history by becoming the youngest player in the world to score a century in all formats of the game, including T20 internationals. In the same year, he recorded another record as the youngest Indian to score a T20 century, this time against New Zealand.

In a recent match against Nepal during the Asia Cup 2023 in Kandy, Gill showcased his poweress by scoring 67 runs off 62 balls, making him the fastest player to reach 1500 runs in ODIs.

In the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Shubham Gill displayed his exceptional form by amassing 851 runs in 16 matches. He not only crossed the 700-run mark in a single IPL season but also became the youngest player to win the Orange Cap, an award given to the tournament’s top run-scorer.

Gill achieved this feat at the age of 23, surpassing Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had previously held the record for being the youngest Orange Cap winner in 2021.
