Ind Vs WI: Rishabh Pant promoted as India’s Vice-Captain for T20I series

New-Delhi: Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was elevated to the role of vice-captaincy in T20Is series against West Indies which begins from February 16.

The decision came after newly appointed India white-ball vice-captain KL Rahul got injured after playing the second one-day international of the three-match series against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium n Motera, Ahmedabad.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in its latest announcement on February 14, 2022, revealed that Rishabh Pant has been made the vice-captain of the Indian T20I team for the three T20Is against West Indies, which will be played on February 16, 18 and 20 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

On the other hand, BCCI also stated that all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out for three weeks after a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official revealed that he had suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury.

In his place,left-arm bowler Kuldeep Yadav will be his replacement.

India’s T20I squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (vice-captain) (wicket-keeper), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohd. Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda, Kuldeep Yadav.
