New Delhi: Vinesh Phogat on Tuesday wrote on her X handle that she is returning Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award and the Arjuna award. She took to her X handle (formerly Twitter) and wrote it along with a letter in Hindi.
Vinesh, the 29 year old World Championship medallist reportedly took this bold step protesting against the election of Sanjay Kumar Singh as the WFI’s new president.
Singh is said to be a close aide of BJP MP and former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
It is to be noted that earlier fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia had returned his Padma Shri.
