Australian opener David Warner withdrawn from T20 series against India

Australia’s opener David Warner has been withdrawn from the T20 series against India after a 'demanding' 50-over World Cup.

In recent news, Australia’s opener David Warner has been withdrawn from the T20 series against India after a commendable performance in the 50-over World Cup. He was the top scorer for Australia with 535 runs in the World Cup hosted by India.

On November 21, Cricket Australia announced that David Warner now heads home, after a ‘successful yet demanding World Cup tournament.’

Replacing him, emerging all-rounder Aaron Hardie from Western Australia has reportedly joined the squad. Hardie recently made his debut in both ODIs and T20 Internationals during the South Africa tour. While Warner eyes finishing his Test career in January against Pakistan, he has expressed interest in playing more white-ball cricket, especially with the T20 World Cup around the corner.

Several other key players are also returning home, including Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins, fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, and all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh. Matthey Wade will lead the team in the upcoming five-match T20 series starting on November 23 in Vishakhapatnam.

Fast bowler Kane Richardson has been called in to replace Spencer Johnson. Johnson will remain out of the series due to sustained injuries. Only seven players from the World Cup winning squad will participate in the T20 series. Head coach Andrew McDonald will also remain unseen, with Andre Borovec taking charge.

The selectors announced the squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against Australia on Monday.

India squad: Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vice-captain), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar.
