Asia World Cup 2023: Will rain washout IND vs Nepal match

Team India is set to encounter against Nepal in Pallekela International Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on Monday.

Sri Lanka: Team India is gearing up for their crucial encounter against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023. This second and final group fixture is set to take place in Pallekela, Sri Lanka, on Monday.

On Saturday, India found themselves in a tricky situation due to rain disrupting their match against Pakistan. Despite winning the toss and choosing to bat in overcast conditions, the game was repeatedly interrupted by rain.

Ultimately, the match was declared a washout after the first innings, resulting in both India and Pakistan earning a single point each.

Looking ahead to their match against Nepal, the weather forecast doesn’t look promising. There’s an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with temperatures expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius. The humidity is likely to be around 91 percent, and wind speeds may range from 15 to 25 km/h.

Nepal, who secured their spot in the Asia Cup by defeating the UAE in the qualifier finals, is poised to play their first-ever international match against India and their fifth against a full-member nation.

India, on the other hand, is eager to get back into action after their game against Pakistan was washed out. The team managed to score 266 runs in 48.5 overs before the rain interruptions.

In terms of player updates, there’s speculation that Mohammad Shami may replace Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI. Reports suggest that Bumrah has returned to Mumbai to be present for the birth of his first child, although this has yet to be officially confirmed by Bumrah or the BCCI.
