Former India cricket team captain Anil Kumble has pointed some of the major flaws in star batter of the team Shubman Gill during the ongoing India vs England test series.

The young cricketer got out at 23 by England debutant Tom Hartley after resuming his overnight score of 14. Shubman Gill ended up throwing his wicket after he tried to swat Hartley but instead of delivered the ball straight to the hands of Ben Duckett. This is the maiden Test wicket of Tom Hartley.

Kumble said that he thinks Gill needs to learn how to rotate strikes, especially against the spinners. According to Kumble, Gill should try to play with soft hands against the spin like Cheteshwar Pujara and Rahul Dravid.
He further explained that he could not rotate the strike under pressure. So, he needs to learn how to rotate strikes on Indian tracks if he doesn’t want to lose your wicket. He should not have played the shot against the turn, which i don’t think was the ideal shot.

Moreover, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar heavily criticized batter Shubman Gill for his poor performance in the match.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s unruffled fifty helped India to reach 222 for three at lunch to close the gap. Rahul (55 batting) and Shreyas Iyer (34 batting) are at the crease as India, resuming from their overnight 119 for one, now trail England by 24 runs. The England team were bowled out for 246 in their first innings on Day 1.
