Watch: Afghan TV anchor surrounded by armed Taliban fighters while reading news

A shocking video has surfaced on the social medial platform where an Afghan television anchor is surrounded by armed Taliban fighters.

BBC reporter Kian Sharifi has shared the terrifying 42-second video on his Twitter handle. In the video, it can be seen that the host of a political debate programme reading a statement from the Taliban surrounded by at least eight Taliban fighters.

“With armed Taliban fighters standing behind him, the presenter of Afghan TV’s Peace Studio political debate programme says the Islamic Emirate (Taliban’s preferred name) wants the public to “cooperate with it and should not be afraid,” Kian Sharifi wrote while sharing the video.

Kian Sharifi, while sharing yet another video of the incident, further said that the programme is called Pardaz. In this longer video, the presenter interviews a Taliban fighter who presumably outranks the rest of the lot in the studio. The presenter switches from Dari to Pashto, which unfortunately I don’t speak.
