Smoke in Vivek Express at Berhampur station, reason ascertained

Smoke was seen emanating from the Vivek Express (Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Express) at Berhampur station in Odisha. 

Berhampur: Smoke was seen emanating from the Vivek Express (Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Express) at Berhampur station in Odisha.

The incident allegedly took place in the Berhampur station in Ganjam district of Odisha on Tuedsay.

According to reliable reports, the wheels of the train allegedly got stuck on the tracks and due to the fiction, smoke was seen coming out.

The passengers however were scared. They were seen hurriedly stepping out of the train. A probe was initiated into the matter.

UPDATE:  

The smoke was not due to any mishap but brake binding as a sack had got stuck in a wheel of a coach. We have removed the sack from the wheel and also used a fire extinguisher. The train halted for around 15-30 minutes. A thorough check will be carried out at Brahmapur station,” Basanta Kumar Satpathy, Railway officer
