Huge interstate job scam busted in Odisha, 3 including couple arrested
The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police today busted a huge interstate job scam in Bhubaneswar and arrested at least three people including a couple for their involvement in the scam.
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police today busted a huge interstate job scam in Bhubaneswar and arrested at least three people including a couple for their involvement in the scam.
The arrestees have been identified as Mohammad Sanaullah, his wife Sakshi Jain, hailing from Hyderabad and Surat Dalai, a native of Balasore, who used to work as the local agent of the couple. Police also seized laptops, 8 mobiles, 12 ATMs and Res 1 lakh from their possessions.
According to police, the EOW registered suo motu after it came across a suspicious job related advertisement published in a reputed vernacular newspaper on December 18 and 22 last year in the name of an organisation, ‘Aided Schools welfare Society’ (Educational Organisation Supported by Govt).
This apart, they used to run several YouTube channels and website – www.modelschools.ac.
They had given advertisements for non-teaching posts in Aided Schools in Odisha such as Development Officer, Welfare Officer, School Supervisor, School Clerks, School Attenders and watchmen with a monthly salary from Rs 28,000 to Rs 40, 000.
On course of the probe, police arrested the trio and came to know that the racket is being run from Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad and is operated in different states like Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Assam.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to have charged Rs 1000 as application fee from each candidate and were reportedly planning to fleece the candidates by charging heavy amounts as Interview fee, security fee, verification fee.
Further probe is underway.
