Heavy rainfall in Odisha today, Yellow warning issued to 13 districts

Rainfall in Odisha is likely to continue for the next 2 days, A yellow warning has been issued to 13 districts in for heavy rainfall today.

Bhubaneswar: Rainfall continues to lash several areas across Odisha. The Regional meteorological department has issued a yellow warning to 13 districts in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall today.

The Low-Pressure Area over Northwest and adjoining West-Central Bay of Bengal has weakened. The adjoining cyclonic circulation stretched to a height of 7.6 km in the atmosphere.

Forecasts predict moderate to heavy rainfall for the next two days. This is due to the influence of the active South-West monsoon.

The intensity of rainfall is likely to decrease from September 9 onwards. However, another low pressure area is likely to develop in the coming week. Subsequently, this would result in heavy rainfall across Odisha in the coming days.

The ongoing monsoon season in Odisha has recorded a total of 849.5 mm of rainfall. This lies about 13 percent less than the expected total rainfall of 973.9 mm. So far, 11 districts have recorded moderate amount of total rainfall while 19 districts have recorded a scarcity in rainfall.
