First cold wave warning of winter season issued for 5 districts of Odisha

A yellow warning for intense cold has been issued for five districts of Odisha including Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Angul and Keonjhar.

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Center (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for intense cold for as many as five districts of Odisha for Saturday. This is the first cold wave warning for the winter season in Odisha. The cold wave warning has been issued for the Odisha districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Angul and Keonjhar. The effect of the bone chilling cold will remain till 8am.

The cold wave has returned to the state due to the dry cold winds blowing from the Northwest direction. According to the regional Meteorological centre, the minimum temperature will likely drop below 10 degrees celsius in the state. The minimum night temperature in Similipal has dropped to 3 degrees Celsius.

Various places in the state have also witnessed dense fog along with the the cold, which has disrupted vehicular movements. A warning for fog has been issued for 16 districts of the state. The weather will remain dry for the next 6 days in the state.
