Ex-OMC Manager convicted in disproportionate assets case, gets rigorous imprisonment

abinarayan Behura, the Ex-Manager (Retired) of Kalarahangi Mines, OMC Ltd in Jajpur district has been convicted by the Special Judge of Special Court in Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years.

Jajpur: Rabinarayan Behura, the Ex-Manager (Retired) of Kalarahangi Mines, OMC Ltd in Jajpur district has been convicted by the Special Judge of Special Court in Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years.

This apart the court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him saying in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more.

Behura was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Spl. Court, Cuttack TR No.07/2015 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 for possession of disproportionate assets U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Rabinarayan following his conviction.

Ramakanta Sahoo, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Cell, Cuttack had investigated the case and Biren Kumar Panda, Spl. P.P, Spl. Court, Cuttack conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
