Sushma Swaraj rubbishes rumour of being appointed as AP Guv

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has rubbished all rumours regarding her appointment as Andhra Pradesh (AP) Governor.

Known to be pro-active on social media, Swaraj tweeted her response in her own quirky way.

“The news about my appointment as Governor of Andhra Pradesh is not true,” she tweeted.

“I called on the Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu ji on demitting office as Minister of External Affairs. This was enough for Twitter to appoint me as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh,” she added.

Her comments came after a tweet by Union minister Harsh Vardhan congratulating her on the “appointment” as new Andhra governor triggered speculation.

Dr Harsh Vardhan had tweeted, “Congratulations to senior BJP leader & former External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj ji on being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.” Harsh Vardhan deleted his tweet later.

The nine-time parliamentarian did not contest the national elections due to her health condition. But during her tenure, she was one of the most loved cabinet ministers. As foreign minister, Sushma Swaraj is most-admired for responding to the many SOS that she received from Indians and foreigners alike.

Swaraj has been elected seven times as a Member of Parliament and three times as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. She began her political career with the ABVP in the 1970s. A recipient of the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award, Sushma Swaraj has been the youngest cabinet minister in the Haryana government and also becoming the first woman Delhi chief minister.
