Pathanamthitta: In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman reportedly killed her 27-day-old son for crying in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta recently.
According to the police, the premature baby was regularly ill following which he was incessantly crying. Irate over his cry, the woman banged his head on the wall leaving him seriously injured at 11 AM on December 9.
The infant was soon rushed to the Pathanamthitta Hospital and brought back home after some medication. However, the child was again admitted at a taluk hospital as his condition deteriorated further. Unfortunately, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Later, police arrested the woman based on the complaint filed by Father Joji Thomas, who ran an ashram.
The woman was working as a kitchen worker and was living with her 45-year-old lover, whom she met over the phone.
Police said that the woman was studying at a private institute in Kottayam and she decided to kill the infant as she thought that he would be detrimental to her further studies.
