Random Covid Testing At Delhi Airport, Quarantine If Found Positive

New Delhi: The Delhi airport on Wednesday announced that the passengers arriving from different states with surge in COVID-19 cases, will be randomly tested for COVID from today.

After the sample is collected the passengers will be allowed to exit, if found positive they will be mandatorily quarantined as per the protocol of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it added.

Other than airport, random testing will also be conducted in railway station, inter-state bus terminal and other exit and entry points of the capital.

On Tuesday, the DGCA had said that they may start imposing spot fines at airports on those who are found violating the COVID-19 rules like wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing.

While the frequency of domestic flights is back to pre-pandemic levels, the suspension on international flight services, except a few routes, has been extended till April 30.

Over 53,000 COVID-19 cases have been identified in India in last 24 hours and the national capital has reported 992 cases.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has announced that COVID-19 testing in the national capital will be increased to 80,000 per day , adding to that the Delhi government has ordered increase in 220 ICU beds and 838 normal beds in the ward of 33 private hospital.
