Nagpur doctor abruptly leaves sterilization surgery over tea, Investigation initiated

A doctor at a government-run hospital in Nagpur left a sterilization operation (vasectomy) midway due to not receiving a cup of tea.

Nagpur: An investigation has been launched against a doctor at a government-run hospital in Nagpur following an incident where the doctor left a sterilization surgery (vasectomy) midway due to not receiving a cup of tea.

The incident occurred at a government hospital located in Nagpur’s Mauda area. Eight women had been scheduled for vasectomy procedures.

After performing surgeries on four women, the accused, identified as, Dr. Bhalavi requested a cup of tea from the hospital staff. However, when his request went unfulfilled, he unexpectedly left the operation theatre.

It is worth noting that at the time of the incident, four of the women were under deep anesthesia, and the procedure was still in progress.

Upon learning of the situation, the hospital administration contacted the district medical officer after receiving notifications from the concerned family members of the affected women. They reported the doctor’s actions as a case of negligence.

Saumya Sharma, the CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad, stated that an investigation committee has been formed to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
