Meet Nina Singh, First woman to be appointed as DG of CISF

The Central government on Thursday appointed Nina Singh as the first woman Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)

New-Delhi: The Central government on Thursday appointed Nina Singh as the first woman Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

“Nina Singh has been appointed as the DG, CISF. Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is currently working as Special DG, CISF. She has been appointed to the post till her superannuation on July 31, 2024,” the order said.

She was the DG of civil rights and anti-human trafficking cell. Not only this, she also became the first woman to hold the top police post in Rajasthan out of six DG-rank officers in the state police force.

She also worked as Joint Director in the CBI during 2013-18 where she handed high profile cases. In 2020, she was awarded the Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal for professional excellence.

Nina Singh, native of Bihar, studied at the Patna Women’s College and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
