Karnataka: After Congress, all JDS Ministers resign

Bengaluru: Hours after all 21 Congress Ministers resigned from the coalition government in Karnataka, all the Janata Dal Secular (JDS) Ministers have also tendered their resignations, the chief minister’s office (CMO) said on Monday.

The CMO also said that the Cabinet reshuffle will soon happen in the State government.

On Saturday, as many as eight Congress and three JDS legislators submitted their resignations to the office of the Speaker.

The disgruntled MLAs are now camping at a hotel in Mumbai, sources said.

With their resignations, the coalition government’s numbers reduced to 105 in an Assembly where the majority mark currently is 113.

Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, who cut short his foreign visit and returned last evening to handle the crisis, said that he doesn’t have any kind of anxiety about the political development in the state.

“I don’t have any kind of anxiety about the present political development. I don’t want to discuss anything about politics,” said the Chief Minister.

In Karnataka, the coalition govt’s total strength was 117 (Congress-78, JD(S)-37, BSP-1 and Independents-2), besides the Speaker.
