ISRO’s Aditya L1 reaches its destinations, enters successfully into Halo orbit

Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Aditya L1 has made another landmark for India after successfully entering into the Halo orbit.

Bengaluru: Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Aditya L1 has made another landmark for India after successfully entering into the Halo orbit.

Confirming the success of the mission, ISRO Insight took to his X handle and said, “, . ! Aditya-L1 has successfully entered the Halo orbit around the L1 point.”

Earlier this week, while speaking to ANI, ISRO chief S Somanath said, “Aditya L1 is going to reach its L1 point on January 6 at 4pm and we are going to do the final manoeuvre to keep it there.”

The Aditya L1 has been kept in the Halo orbit which is around 1.5 million kilometres from the Earth. Now the spacecraft will observe the sun without any eclipses.

The spacecraft was launched back on September 2, 2023 by the Polar satellite Launch vehicle (PSLV-C57). It is India’s first space based solar mission. It is after a journey of 127 days the spacecraft will enter its final orbit today during the afternoon hours.

The mission of Aditya L1 mission is to study the chromosphere and corona, upper atmospheric dynamics, of the sun.

Following the landmark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle and tweeted, “India creates yet another landmark. India’s first solar observatory Aditya-L1 reaches it’s destination. It is a testament to the relentless dedication of our scientists in realizing among the most complex and intricate space missions. I join the nation in applauding this extraordinary feat. We will continue to pursue new frontiers of science for the benefit of humanity.”
