India sees a massive spike of Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours

New-Delhi: In a shocking rise, India reported as many as 90,928 fresh COVID cases in the past 24 hours on Thursday.

The country reported a low number of recoveries at 19,206 cases.

Also, 325 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total reported death count to 4,82,876.

However, the active Covid cases in the country stand at 2,85,401. The total number of recoveries in the country was 3,43,41,009 .

The Total vaccination number is 148.67 crore doses and the daily positivity rate in India reached 6.43%.

Several states have announced night curfew in order to curb the Covid surge in the country.

Several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are witnessing an exponential rise in Covid-19 cases. Experts suggest that the new Omicron variant is behind this massive spike in cases.

India reported 495 fresh Omicron cases taking the total tally to 2,630 in the country, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
