General Elections 2024: Check facilities in polling booths across India, as the nation casts votes in 1st phase
Bhubaneswar: As the nation casts votes in 1st phase of the General Elections 2024, let us take a look at the facilities that polling booths across India have. The Election Commission of India has decided to have the facilities in the polling booths in India for the comfort of the voters.
The polling booths are equipped with water, sun shades, toilets, ramps for divyangs and elder voters. Model polling booths have been set up in each constituency based on local content. In addition, more than five thousand women polling booths have been installed for women.
All these booths have women staff as polling staff and security guards. Apart from the voter ID, registered voters can assert their voting rights by showing 12 alternative documents.
Voters can know about the candidates contesting the elections through the ECI KYC app. More than 50 percent of the polling booths will be webcasted to make polling transparent and peaceful.
A total of 4627 flying squads, 5208 statistical monitoring teams, 2028 video surveillance teams, 1255 video viewing teams are monitoring the constituencies. 1374 intra-state and 162 international check posts have been set up to prevent smuggling of illegal money, liquor, gifts and drugs during elections.

Each polling center will have adequate drinking water, separate toilets for people of all genders, shade for queues, benches and waiting rooms. In all these places, it has been ordered to provide uninterrupted electricity and fans. They will have necessary medicines to deal with any emergency.
Each polling officer will be accompanied by a para medical officer. Through information-education-campaigns, the message of warning due to the heatwave will be conveyed to the public. In this connection, the Chief Election Officer has informed about making proper arrangements for all the officials involved in the election process.
