Delhi records coldest morning of this winter season at 6.5 degree Celsius

On Monday, the national capital Delhi recorded its coldest morning of this winter season so far, with a temperature of 6.5 degree Celsius.

New Delhi: On Monday, the national capital Delhi recorded its coldest morning of this winter season so far, with a temperature of 6.5 degree Celsius. This is more than three degrees below the normal 9.6 degree Celsius, as reported by the Meteorological Centre. This cold spell is expected to persist for the next five days, keeping temperatures below the usual range. Saturday’s minimum temperature was 8.5 degree Celsius.

Alongside the coldest morning, the Delhi-NCR region continues to grapple with ‘very poor’ air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 314 at 7:00 AM on Monday. This is as per reports from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the air quality will remain ‘very poor’ until Tuesday.

At 6:00 PM on Sunday, Delhi’s AQI was 312, maintaining its index as ‘very poor.’ This was slightly below 322, recorded on Saturday at the same time. The relative humidity was 60 percent at 5:30 PM.

For reference, the Air Quality Index (AQI) scale in Delhi categorizes air quality from ‘good’ (0-50) to ‘severe plus’ (above 450). The current status of Delhi currently falls in the ‘very poor’ range.
