Patna: As many as 83 persons have lost their lives due to thunderstorms and lightning strike in Bihar in the last 24 hours, the State Disaster Management Department said on Thursday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of very heavy rainfall in several states including Bihar for the next three days.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced Rs 4 lakhs each for 83 people who lost their lives due to thunderstorms in the state.
The State government had earlier asked the district administrations to take “suitable precautionary measures” in view of heavy rain forecast in the state.
