7th pay commission: 4% DA hike approved for central government employees

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a 4 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) hike for central government employees

New-Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a 4 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) hike for central government employees and pensioners, in what may come as a Diwali gift for them.

With this decision, the DA for central government employees will increase to 46 per cent from the existing 42 per cent.

The cabinet, which met earlier in the day, is learnt to have cleared the decision, sources said.

The approved DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2023. The last hike in DA was effected in March 2023.

The cabinet is also learnt to have cleared the proposal of hiking the minimum support price (MSP) for six Rabi crops, including wheat and Red Lentil (Masur) by up to 7 per cent, sources informed further.
