New Delhi: In light of hike in heart attacks among the youth, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has advised individuals who have recovered from severed COVID-19 infection to avoid heavy exercise and hard labor.

Addressing the media at an event in Bhavnagar of Gujarat, the Union Minister referred to a comprehensive study conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The study’s findings recommend that individuals who have recovered from severe COVID infections should refrain from engaging in intense physical labor, vigorous exercise, or similar activities for a specific duration, typically ranging from one to two years. This precautionary measure aims to reduce the risk of heart attacks among this demographic.

Notably, there has been a surge in cases of heart attacks among people in their 20s and 30 since late 2022, and many speculate a possible connection to COVID or its treatment.

Mandaviya’s remarks were made during his visit to Bhavnagar for the closing ceremony of Sansad Khelmahotsava, 2023, a sports carnival designed for the youth of the Bhavnagar assembly constituency, encompassing the Bhavnagar and Botad districts of Gujarat.

The rising number of heart attack cases, especially among the youth, has raised concerns over the nation.
