Surat jewellers sell dentures made of diamond for Rs 40 lakh

Known for its history of being the center for diamond cutting and polishing, Surat jewelers have come up with diamond dentures

You might be acquainted with the custom of lovers sealing the deal with a diamond solitaire, but have you ever thought of having diamonds for teeth? Yes, you heard it right, a jeweler in Gujarat’s Surat is offering special dentures made of these white crystals.

Surat is known as India’s Diamond City for its age-old history of being the center for diamond cutting and polishing. Due to the high levels of skills and finesse of its artisans, the city is also the world’s most precise and sought-after diamond processing hub.

About 90 percent of the world’s diamond supply is cut and polished in Surat. Now, among the several designs the city has to offer, artists are reportedly making gold and silver ‘dentures’ adorned with natural, lab-grown, and moissanite diamonds.

According to the reports, these denture sets with diamonds may cost anywhere between Rs 25 to 40 lakh. Some of these have 16 teeth and use around 2,000 tiny diamonds, along with gold and silver.

In addition, customization is also available in the shape, style, and design of the dentures as per the customer’s requirement.

Much like regular ones, these dentures can notably be detached and worn without any hassles.

The special dentures are also available in silver, and 10, 14, and 18 carat gold.

As per a report by News18, the cost of a 6-tooth denture made from silver and monzonite diamonds is an estimated Rs 1 lakh. On the other hand, dentures made from gold and lab-grown diamond may reach Rs 5 lakh.

Meanwhile, the premium ones- made from gold and diamond- may range from Rs 25-40 lakh depending on the amount of gold and diamonds used.
