Bus Driver’s daughter from Chhattisgarh bags job in London

Despite their financial instability, Riya Philip's parents pushed her to follow her dreams after sensing her interest in studies.

The daughter of a retired bus driver from the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh secured a job at a Government hospital in London.

The girl, Riya Philip, hails from the Naxal-infested Dornapal area in Sukma. Overcoming all hurdles, fear of terror, and poverty, she bagged the job of a nurse at a Government hospital in London.

Her family members say that apart from filling their lives with happiness, Riya has also proven to be an inspiration to others like her.

Sholly Philip, Riya’s mother, works as a private school teacher while her father, Ritesh Philip, works as a bus driver at the same school. The Philip family earlier resided in Dubbatota village. They had later shifted to Dornapal due to the ffear of Naxals.

Despite being financially instable, the couple pushed Riya to follow her dreams after sensing her interest in studies.

Riya pursued her Nursing studies in Bengaluru. Later, she had served at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai for two years. While talking to the media, Ritesh mentioned how they had to mortgage their house to finance her ticket to UK worth Rs 3 lakh.

He was brimming with pride as he mentioned how his daughter had grabbed a prestigious job with Rs 21 lakh annual package.

Riya is surely an inspiration for women from underprivileged backgrounds.
