Veteran actor Kader Khan passes away at 81

Toronto: Veteran actor Kader Khan passed away on Tuesday, his son Sarfaraz said. The actor breathed his last in a hospital in Canada where he was living with his son and daughter-in-law for the last few years. He was 81.

The actor was put on a BiPAP ventilator on December 28. Reportedly, he suffered from progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a degenerative disease that causes loss of specific volumes of the brain, difficulty in walking and dementia.

Khan also underwent surgeries for his knees in 2017, his son informed.

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan on December 11, 1937, Khan is known for his roles in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, Jeena Sirf Mere Liye, Pyaar Ka Devta, Joru Ka Gulaam, Akhiyon Se Goli Maare, Anari No. 1, Benarsi Babu and Aa Ab Laut Chalein, among others.
