Raavan of Ramayan, Arvind Trivedi passes away at 82

Mumbai: Veteran actor and former MP Arvind Trivedi, best known for portraying the role of Raavan in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan died at the age of 82.

Report says, the actor was unwell for some time and died of organ and heart failure.

As per media reports, the last rites will take place at Dahanukarwadi crematorium, Wednesday morning.

He has acted in about 300 Hindi and Gujarati films. He was an MP from 1991 to 1996 from the Sabarkantha seat on a BJP ticket.  He served as a Parliamentarian till 1996. He also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) for a brief time between 2002 and 2003.

His co-actors Arun Govil and Sunil Lahri took to social media and confirmed the news of Arvind Trivedi’s death Arun Govil, who played the role of Ram in the epic show, described Arvind Trivedi as “my dear friend” in his condolence tweet.

Meanwhile, Sunil Lahri, who featured as Lakshman on Ramayan, wrote: “Bahut dukhad samachar hai ki hamare sabke pyare Arvind bhai (Raavan of Ramayan) ab hamare bich nahin rahe. Bhagwan unki atma ko shanti de (It’s very sad that our beloved Arvind Trivedi is not amongst us anymore. May he rest in peace). I am speechless I lost father figure my guide, well-wisher and gentleman.”

Apart from Ramayan, he has also acted in Vikram and Betal. He has almost acted in around 250 films, in Gujarat film industry.
