Censor Board clears way for release of PM Modi biopic

New Delhi: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the path for release of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic ‘PM Narendra Modi’ April 11 release.

Incidentally, the film was granted a ‘U’ certificate on Tuesday and no cuts were made. But director Omung Kumar has been asked to make four-five “minor” modifications which will have to be incorporated before the film’s release.

The film had been a subject of political discussions with opposition parties demanding a ban on film’s release. With model code of conduct in view, petitions had been filed in Supreme Court demanding a ban.

The Supreme Court had refused to block the release of the biopic, while the Election Commission said the matter fell squarely within the CBFC’s purview. And with CBFC’s clearance, the PM Modi biopic makers have gotten the much-needed relief.
