Rupee Gains 10 Paise To End At 69.35 Against US $

Mumbai: The Indian rupee closed stronger against the US dollar for the second day in a row. The domestic unit ended at 69.35 a dollar, up 0.14% from its previous close of 69.45.

Forex dealers said, the local currency also gained strength amid the weakening of the greenback in overseas markets.

However, rising crude oil prices and sustained foreign fund inflows weighed on the domestic currency and restricted the upward spree of the rupee.

The rupee opened at 69.45 at the interbank forex market then gained further ground and touched 69.35 amid a positive opening in domestic equities, displaying gains of 10 paise over its last close.

Meanwhile, Brent Crude futures, the global oil benchmark, eased by 1.43% to $61.40 per barrel.

However, the benchmark indices Sensex was trading at 202.24 points down at 39,748.22 and Nifty was down by 57.65 points at 11,907.95.
