A Rocket Propelled Grenade or RPG was fired at the Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali, Punjab on Monday. The explosion occurred on the third floor of the office on Monday night, causing damage to property. The last has been termed as ‘minor’ by the police.
“A minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Sector 77, SAS Nagar at around 7.45 pm. No damage has been reported. Senior officers are on the spot and investigation is being done. Forensic teams have been called,” the Mohali police said in an official statement.
The blast did not report of any causality. Police and Forensic officers arrived at the location. The area was sealed off for public and senior officers immediately took charge of the case.
Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the blast at the Punjab Police Intelligence headquarter in Mohali. Thankfully nobody was hurt. This brazen attack on our police force is deeply concerning and I urge CM Bhagwant Mann to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice at the earliest.”
