Tata Motors hikes the prices of Nexon and discontinues some variants

Tata Nexon is perhaps one of the popular vehicles offered by Tata Motors. This sub-compact SUV is not only loaded with features but also has proved its safety from time to time. The Tata Nexon achieved a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash test. However, the company has taken the decision of hiking the prices of Nexon. Tata Motors has also discontinued some variants of the popular SUV.

Price Hike

Post the price hike the rates of Tata Nexon are between Rs 7.29 lakh and Rs 13.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The increase in price across the Nexon range goes up to Rs 11,000 and varies from model to model.

The base variant of the Tata Nexon XE (petrol) gets a hike by just Rs 1000. On the other hand the XMA (S) variant increased by Rs 10,500. The XZA+ (O) Dark Edition which is Nexon’s top-spec diesel variant is hiked by Rs 11,000. Some other popular models of the SUV like petrol XZ+, XZ+ Dark, XZA+ Dark, and diesel XM (S), XZ+ do not get a price hike.

In terms of power, the Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel or 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The diesel engine produces a maximum power of 110 hp while the petrol engine produces a maximum power of 120 hp. Both the diesel and petrol engines are offered with manual or automatic transmission option.

Discontinued models

A total of 5 models have been discontinued by Tata Motors. All the models are diesel variants. The variants are XE, XMA, XMA (S), XZ and XZA+ (S).

In the Indian market, the Tata Nexon competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Honda WR-V and Renault Kiger.
